If you were from the 90's, you could probably recall the urban legend about a big snake living under the dressing rooms of Robinson's Department Stores. During that time, rumors have been circulating about the supposed snake twin of Robina Gokongwei-Pe, the daughter of the owner which is John Gokongwei. Yes, a very ridiculous story but for some reason, it has somehow created a buzz during those days. In fact, countless versions of this snake story have been passed on.

The most popular of which is that the big snake would gobble up random pretty ladies as they went into the fitting rooms, particularly in Robinsons Galleria. Even a version in which Alice Dixson was almost eaten by the snake too. Why Alice? Well, probably because she was among the popular actresses in the 90's and this drummed up interest on the story even more. Furthermore, according to stories, the human-snake fell in love with her, thus let her go. And to add another twist, it was said that she was paid by the Gokongweis to keep quiet. Another version is that this is actually a half-human and half-snake and even produces golden eggs. Others say the there is a series of pipes which leads down to the snake, while others say that there is a trap door directly below the fitting rooms.  And it seems the story is somehow revived each time a new Robinsons branch is opened. The name of the snake? You guessed right -- Robinson.

No one knows exactly where the silly story came from, but it surely was a good source of amusement for quite a while and certainly appealed to the Filipino people's love for scary urban tales.
